Job Overview
Our Core Software team is a high-performing group of engineers responsible for developing key components of the ONTAP software. This software powers NetApp’s cloud, hybrid-cloud, and on-premise solutions. You will be part of a team focused on designing, developing, testing, and debugging distributed software systems that form the backbone of our data management products.
Role Responsibilities
- Collaborate with technical leads to deliver medium to large-scale features throughout the software development lifecycle
- Contribute to the creation of reliable, innovative storage and data management solutions
- Design, implement, and test Python-based software with an emphasis on reliability, simplicity, and maintainability
- Participate in designing, developing, troubleshooting, verifying, and delivering major subsystems or entire systems
- Write comprehensive unit tests and automated integration tests to ensure code quality
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong background in software development, including analysis, design, implementation, and testing
- Proficient in C++ (mandatory); knowledge of Python is advantageous
- Hands-on experience with file systems, distributed computing, client-server architecture, multithreading, and OS-level development (FreeBSD/Linux)
- Solid grasp of computer architecture, data structures, and software engineering principles
- Familiarity with integrating third-party software packages into larger systems
- Knowledge of handling and resolving security vulnerabilities and CVEs
- Experience with RESTful APIs, cloud technologies, and virtualization is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a creative, systematic approach
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with at least 2 years of experience, or a Master’s degree; equivalent experience also considered.
